Removable Partial Dentures

A removable partial denture (RPD) is for a patient who has few teeth missing, and who cannot have a bridge (a fixed partial denture) for any number of reasons, such as a lack of required teeth to serve as support for a bridge  or personal choice.

It usually consists of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base, which can be held in place by metal clasps or other connectors.

Types of Removable Partial Dentures:

  • Cast Metal Partial Denture: AN option with a metal framework and clasps.
  • Flexible Partial Denture (Valplast): These are made from a flexible, thermoplastic material, offering a comfortable, natural-looking, and lightweight option.
  • Acrylic Partial Denture : Less expensive, these dentures have a removable acrylic base with artificial teeth.
